Sprite Shower Filter
Since we take more chlorine into our bodies by taking warm showers than we do by drinking water, it becomes important to try and minimize the amount of chlorine reaching our bodies. A simple and very effective way to do this is through a Sprite shower filter. This brand of shower filter is trusted and proven to reduce the threat that chlorine poses to us daily.
Our skin is a very special organ – the largest organ in or on our body, as a matter of fact. Normally it acts as a barrier between us and the hazards of the outside world. But when we shower from municipally treated water we subject it to chemical exposure that is tough on the skin. It’s not just the outside of the body that gets affected. The heat of shower water helps the chlorine to vaporize with the steam and enter our lungs through breathing. Combine this with the chlorine entering by absorption through the skin and you’re facing an all out assault by the harmful effects of chlorine.
Sprite shower filters face the special challenge of removing chlorine and other contaminants from shower water head on. Unfortunately, the most effective technology for filtering cold drinking water does not work well in the shower environment. Most cold water filtration is done with activated charcoal, which is very effective at removing all sorts of contaminants, including chlorine, from water before drinking. But activated carbon technology does not work well with warmer water or when high water flows are required, such as in a shower.
Instead, Sprite shower filters use a special combination of metals called KDF, which includes copper and zinc. The KDF material reacts with water in the filter mechanism installed just before the showerhead and converts the chlorine into chloride, which is harmless. In addition, Sprite adds their own special material (which is patented) called Chlorgon that will also remove any chlorine that has already begun to react with other elements in the water. This ends up being a more effective overall solution than other KDF based filters.
Since Sprite has been making shower filters for so long, they have received a lot of feedback and know what people want in shower filter. You can even get hand held shower heads that have the filter built right in to the handle. This blends in so well that you cannot tell there is a filter there, unless you know ahead of time.
